Holes are placed in objects for a variety of reasons.

• To see through an object.
• To make an object lighter in weight.
• To place other objects into or through an object.
• To join two or more objects with a screw or a bolt and nut.
  

Holes are labeled using notes and leaders. Each type of hole requires different information.
