| TECHNICAL DRAWING for MECHANICAL DESIGN | |
| COURSE OUTLINE | |
| The following outline is based on current engineering office practices and follows a step by step approach to the study of technical drawing and mechanical design on an advanced level. Most of the readings will be from "Technical Drawing - Fundamentals, CAD, Design" by Goetsch, Nelson and Chalk. Additional references will be called to your attention and are available in the reference area of the lab. | |
| Unit 1 - Review of Technical Drawing Standards & Computer Aided Design Systems |
|
| Unit 2 - Introduction to Robots | |
| Unit 3 - Review of Mechanical Design Procedures | |
| Unit 4 - Auxiliary Views | |
| Unit 5 - Section Views | |
| Unit 6 - Dimensioning & Tolerancing | |
| Unit 7 - Fasteners | |
| Unit 8 - Constructions | |
| Unit 9 - Developments | |
| Unit 10 - Welding Drawings | |
| Unit 11 - Working Drawings - Optional | |
| The first five units or "steps" will be required of each student during the first semester and the second five units or "steps" will be required of each student during the second semester. Step 11 is available for the student who works at an accelerated rate. Each step of work is based on objectives that should be satisfactorily completed to a level comparable to the student's capabilities and aspirations. Failure to satisfy the stated objectives will require revisions to be made or the redrawing of the problem. | |
