Currently, the Color Guard competes with
TEAMDance Illinois (TDI). They have competed with TDI since it
began in 2007. With TDI, the Color Guard has competed in Tall
Flag and Short Flag.
2008-2009
For the 2008-2009 season, the team competed in Tall Flag with a routine
to "Stand in the Rain" by Superchick and "Bless the Broken Road" by
Rascal Flatts. The team was coached by Sarah Schrader and led by
senior Captain Lisa Peltekian. Both routines qualified for the
State Championship in December at the Wheaton Warrenville South
regional contest. At the TDI State Championship, the Color Guard
acquired another championship in Short Flag, marking a perfect end to
an undefeated season. This is the only time in their history the
Color Guard has won a State title two years in a row! Their Tall
Flag routine had a great performance at State as well, earning the team
4th place. Both routines scored the highest in the team's history.
2007-2008
During 2007-2008, the Color Guard celebrated a win with their
Short Flag routine to "Walking in Memphis" by Lonestar. This
championship falls 10 years after their prior win, in which the current
coach was the team's captain. In addition to their winning Short
Flag routine, the SHS Color Guard also competed in Tall Flag with
"Holding Our for a Hero" by Bonnie Tyler, which placed 4th. The
team was coached by Sarah Schrader, and led by junior Captain Lisa
Peltekian and senior Asst. Captain Shauna Straub.
2006-2007
In 2006-2007, the Color Guard placed 4th Tall Flag with their
routine to "If Looks Could Kill" by Heart. The team was coached
by Sarah Schrader and led by senior Co-Captains Katie Capelli &
Alyssa Shapiro. This was TDI's inaugural season, and the Color
Guard was glad to be a part of it.
IDTA
Prior to competing with TDI, the SHS
Color Guard competed with the Illinois Drill Team Association (IDTA).
With IDTA, the Color Guard has competed in Tall Flag, Short Flag,
and Tall Flag Show.
2006-2007
In 2006-2007, the Color
Guard placed 2nd Tall Flag and 2nd in Short Flag. The Short Flag
routine was to "Would I Lie to You" by the Eurythmics. This
routine featured three lies, including holding two short flags in one
hand, the crowd favorite chain flags (concealed in a belt) and finally
extended flags which revealed a secret star.
