Adlai E. Stevenson High School LibraryServing the information and research needs of approximately 4000 students and 400 staff. |
To serve the students and staff of Stevenson High School by supporting the curriculum and life-long learning.
In order to realize our mission our goals include:
Head librarian: Mrs. Amy Thale
Reference librarian: Mrs. Monica Cornille
Paraprofessional librarians: Mrs. Betzy Barnett, Mrs. Marianne
Johnson, Mrs. Eileen Gaughan, Mrs. Deborah Kerr, Mrs. Parul Joshipura.
Library secretary: Mrs. Tracy Van Giesen
Students may visit the library before and after school, during any free period, or during a study hall on a pass. When you visit we ask that you observe three rules:
When you visit us, you will want to remember to bring your ID with you, as it serves as your library card for checking out materials, and is also necessary for internet access. It is also helpful to have change or dollar bills in case you wish to make photocopies. The library has 2 photocopiers, one black and white ($.10 per pg.) and one color ($1.00 per pg.)
Students may visit the library during a study hall on a pass. Passes must be obtained by one of your academic teachers, not your study hall teacher. Please stamp your pass in the time clock as you enter and leave the library. Once you are in the library on a pass, you must remain in the library. If you need to leave the room, please ask one of the librarians.
Classes visiting the library need to be arranged in advance.
The library can normally accommodate up to three classes per period.
To avoid disappointment, it is best to sign up as soon as possible,
especially if we need to put materials on reserve for your students.
When you sign up, it is helpful to have a copy of the assignment
for the librarian and let the librarian know if you need any special
materials or instruction. Contact Mrs. Thale or Mrs. Cornille
at ext. 1251 or 1295 to schedule your classes.
Students having overdue or lost materials, or unpaid fines will not be permitted to check out any additional materials until they have taken care of this obligation.
