S.P.A.R.K. (Science Professionals as Resource Knowledge)

General Information   Students are paired with professional scientists in industry. They complete an independent research project and submit a detailed paper describing their methods and results. Students earn one semester credit.
Eligibility Requirements   Students seeking membership in S.P.A.R.K. must have completed or be enrolled in an A.P. Science course.  Teachers recommendations are required.
Joining Procedure   Students apply for membership during the second semester of their sophomore or junior year.  Research projects are completed during the summer.
Time Commitment   The student should plan on a six to eight week summer commitment.  A S.P.A.R.K. student begins work with the mentor in June at the end of the sophomore or junior year.  Completed projects are due at the end of August or the beginning of September.
Meets   8th hour in Rooms 8080 & 1123.
September - May.
