Special Events
While G.I.V.E. offers weekly events, every once in a while, opportunities are offered for G.I.V.E. members to volunteer for larger community events that include cancer walks and egg hunts. They are to be treated like any other G.I.V.E. event and all preparations are to be completed ahead of time. The only big difference lies in that they are tentative and can have certain special circumstances. For example, one event can be in the morning and the sign up sheet may state that it’s going to run from 8 am to 12 pm but in actuality, it ends at 10:30 am. The job of a G.I.V.E. leader is to inform the group that special event times are tentative and only the hours served can be awarded. With that in mind, even if it’s May and kids are complaining that they need the hours, they can only receive the hours served.
